TPRS Spotlight Artist
Germany's Scarlet Rose
is a 5 piece band featuring a unique vocal approach with vocalists Steffi
Brill and Coco Augstin trading leads throughout the songs and sharing
beautiful harmony lines. "F*A*C*E*S*" is the 2nd
release from the band. |

Leading off the "F*A*C*E*S*" CD is "Ship From Outer
Space". This track is a fine composition of classy AOR with
enough time changes and quirky fills to satisfy the toughest critic.
" Aim of Immortality" starts out with a Spanish guitar
influenced passage supplied by guitarist Frank Bulling. This
influence continues into the mid tempo piece "There Is No
Answer". "The Sun In Your Eyes" is a lovely ballad
with a song structure that allows all the band members talents to come to
light.
The band's debut CD, "Prime" features more of the same
sophisticated AOR compositions. "Prime" rocks a little
harder than "F*A*C*E*S*" especially on the CD opener "Enemy
Land" and "Everybody's Alone". By no means is that to
say "F*A*C*E*S*" is a watered down release.
"Prime" has several outstanding mid-tempo arrangements like
"Spotlights", "Take Some More" and the ballad "I
See You". |
The vocals on "F*A*C*E*S*" and
their debut release "Prime" are along the lines of Sahara
vocalist Elizabeth Vandall and Karen Lawrence of 1994: fame. Some
comparisons could be drawn to Heart as well. Both of these releases
are highly recommended to fans of superb female vocalists and AOR
fans alike. |
