TPRS Spotlight Artist Rain is a Norwegian metal band
that was formed in 1997 and is fronted by vocalist Michael Bormann, who
has recorded four albums with Jaded Heart, which have been released in
Japan and Germany. Bormann, who is also known for his stint in the band
Bonfire in the eighties, and for touring Germany and Switzerland with the
popular metal outfit, the Sygnet, is joined by Lars Forseth and Tore Moren
on guitar and Per "Peppa" Bruvold on drums. Together, these four musicians celebrate a
magnificent return of the power-ballad as they blend smooth melodies, extreme
harmonies, and an raw edge that was once showcased in the works of bands like
Warrant, Bon Jovi, and even Extreme. In fact, their Web site describes them as
"a pop-rock act with a sharp edge that cuts right through to the heart of
the matter." Since these talented maestros were tired of
helping other artists achieve success, they decided to make a demo-album
themselves building on a strong foundation of classic rock and melodic influence
spanning over three decades. With enough drive to rock hard and enough talent to
succeed, these ambitious Norwegians strive to achieve worldwide success as both
songwriters and as a band. Sprouting an abundance of classic power ballads
and a noteworthy fourteen tracks of solid melodies, the band's first effort in
their mission is a fourteen-track demo, which is simply entitled Rain-2000 and
is sure to catch the ear of a record executive soon. And while it is offered as
a CD-R recording, the quality is superb. This disc is a must for fans of Bon
Jovi and the like, and can be purchased through the band's Web site at http://home.no.net/~rain.
