Sounding much like
Fates Warning should still sound, Chicago's Ion Vein is a progressive
metal band on the verge of an international breakout. Recent news
reports state they will be working with former Queensryche producer Neil
Kernon on new material shortly. However, Ion Vein's debut CD,
"Beyond Tomorrow", should not be overlooked especially for fans of
substantive, progressive metal.
Fading Shadows has a Debut EP /
The Warning era Queensryche style and aggression. Heart Of The Matter slowly
builds into a power progressive piece similar to mid period Fates Warning. The
Bridge Of Dawn and Here Today, Gone Tomorrow also have a heavy Fates Warning
influence but expand upon their influences adding their own style of breaks and
time changes. The dramatic "Beyond Tomorrow" ends the 7 song release
with a fury of fine musicianship.
Russ Klimczak has an operatic
voice that is confident enough to never overpower the rest of the musicians. The
guitars of Chris Lotesto and John Malufka compliment each other and the complex
music often delivering intricate, melodic patterns that never become overly
repetitious.
Ion Vein is:
Russ Klimczak - lead vocals
Scott Lang - drums/percussion
Chris Lotesto - guitar/keyboards/vocals
John Malufka - guitar Jonathon Quigley - bass/vocals
