EMPIRE
Hypnotica
Lion Music

Rolf Munkes made sure he recruited some serious vocal firepower for his latest project EMPIRE.  "Hypnoitca" features Lance King (Balance Of Power) and Mark Boals (Ring Of Fire) on vocals.  King, in my opinion, is the best high register singer since Tony Harnell of TNT back in the "Knights Of The New Thunder" era.   Munkes did not slouch on recruiting other players as well including Neil Murray (Whitesnake, Vow Wow) and Don Airey (Deep Purple).

As for the songs, fans of melodic hard rock / metal with a late 80's classy style will love this disc.  "Bad Bad Boy" recalls the "Intuition" CD by TNT in terms of the song itself.  "Here I Am" recalls Robin McAuley era MSG while "I WIll Always Be There" would have fit nicely on the debut Unruly Child CD or Triumph's "Edge Of Excess" release.  "Fool In Love" would make a great lead single for the disc with its immediate hooks and flashy riffs.  Boals vocals are quite aggressive on the track "Into The Light" which has a relentless gallop to it.

Rolf Munkes guitar playing throughout the disc is always complimentary to the songs and never becomes overbearing.  Munkes, like many other players these days with supergroups, allows all the talents on the disc to shine.  Empire's "Hypnotica" is available at http://www.lionmusic.com
