Elvenking
To The Oaks Bestowed

The
Italian metal scene has been flourishing for the past several years with many
symphonic and power metal bands. Elvenking
is making their name known throughout the world with a slightly different style.
Among their influences, Elvenking acknowledge Blind Guardian, Skyclad,
Helloween, Children of Bodom and Iron Maiden.
Listening to their 5 song demo
CD "To Oak Woods Bestowed”, these influences of
folk metal and melodic German speed metal abound.
Introductory track “To The Oaks Bestowed “segues from an Irish jig into the
German speed metal influenced track “White Willow”. “Banquet Of Bards” is reminiscent of “Death Or Glory”
era Running Wild minus the piracy theme. Damnagoras’
vocals on “Oakenshield” are complimented by a beautiful soprano voice
provided by Pauline Tacey.
The guitar riffs and solos provided by Aydan and Jarpen are crisp throughout the
CD. Vocally, Damnagoras can be
compared slightly with Michael Kiske. "To
Oak Woods Bestowed” is produced by Elvenking and Luigi Stefanini who have done
superb work in getting a sonically pleasing, clean sound.
Elvenking have signed a deal with AFM-Records (German label of Edguy, Steel
Attack, Squealer). They are now working on their proper debut album which will
be released sometime during the spring of 2001.
