Vince Neil - July 12, 2002
Rock Never Stops Tour
Nautica Stage - Cleveland

While Motley Crue vocalist may have brought in a new band for this summers' tour, he stuck to the crowd pleasers, and left out his solo material completely...

Ironically, Neil's band includes Jamie Hunting (bass) and Brent Fitz (drums), who backed former Crue vocalist John Corabi in his band Union before joining Neil on the road last summer and again this year.  Lead guitar duities, however, are handled by Brent Woods (formerly of Wildside), who had performed on Neil's second solo release, Carved in Stone.

In Cleveland, Vince Neil and band appropriately "Kickstarted" their set and before long revisited old favorites like "Knock Em Dead, Kid," "Red Hot," and "Piece of Your Action."

Mid-set much to the pleasure of the male members of the audience, Neil brought in a number of strippers from a local caboret to dance to a lengthy medley of Motley's "Girls, Girls, Girls" and "Same Ol Situation."  But, to cool things off, the played on with the only ballad of the evening, "Home Sweet Home," from Theater of Pain, which seemed to lose its impact without the memorable live piano intro historically performed by original Motley drummer Tommy Lee (no offense Brent).

Again, the band reminissed over older Motley classics as they tore through "Looks That Kill" and Live Wire" before calling it a night.  They also included the title track from "Dr. Feelgood," but never moved on beyond that 1989 release with their song selections.

Unlike the last Vince Neil band jaunt, Neil did not attempt to call this a vacation from the Crue, nor did he say exactly what the future holds. With the band laying idle for so long, and the tragic death of drummer Randy Castillo barely behind them, it is difficult to even venture a guess.  But without mention of any new solo material from Vince Neil in the wings, it seems there is still hope for yet another resurrection of Motley Crue...Tour dates and other information about Neil can be found at www.motleycrue.com
