Poison
Polaris Amphitheater
Columbus, OH
6/26/2002

Bret Michaels

The Poison party continued as promised in Columbus, Ohio this past Wednesday as Bret Michaels not only made good on the promise of inviting his fans to another show on the band, he also made sure everyone got the best seat possible by breaking the rules once more and telling everyone (including those on the lawn) to get as close to the stage as possible!

With a pre-show thunderstorm dropping the temperature a bit, the bands performance was much more enjoyable than in Cuyahoga Falls, and Bret, C.C., Bobby, and Rikki seemed to feed off the energy from the packed in crowd surrounding the stage.

Bobbi DallUsually, it seems ridiculous to give much mention to a band's hair or wardrobe, but since Poison has always gone out of their way to be flamboyant entertainers, it seems appropriate to mention the make-shift hat racks displaying Rockett’s countless headpieces (almost one for each song), the big polar bear coat that Michael’s used to make his entrance, and even the shiny metallic flamed classic flying-v strung low around Mr. Deville.

Also, worthy of mention were the even more explosive pyro effects that heated things up throughout the show, everything from a rain-like waterfall to accompany “Every Rose Has it’s Thorn” to canons of fire during most of the show, and not one but two confetti showers before the band wrapped things up with "Rock n Roll All Nite," and "Nothin' But a Good Time."

While the storm kept us from catching Faster Pussycat, and an in depth interview with Winger’s Rod Morgenstein lead to missing Cinderella’s set, we were sure to pay close attention to Winger for this review from Columbus and were there bright and early to catch the entire concert including Pretty Boy Floyd’s opening jaunt on the side-stage in Burgettstown, PA.  Check out the full report….and keep checking back right here at TPRS.com for more tour coverage including more from Cinderella in Toledo.
