For three consecutive years, Poison has pulled together the biggest party of
the summer handpicking their own opening acts and drawing unpredictable
crowds with affordable ticket prices and fan club perks. This year the
Glam
Slam Metal Jam offered a somewhat more diverse line-up with Warrant, Quiet
Riot, and Enuff Znuff on the opening end.
It was also refreshing to see some difference in the sets of the bands as
the tour progressed over the past two months. New adds for Poison included
their new single “Rock Star,” as well as Flesh & Blood’s “Ride the
Wind,”
and their debut’s “Cry Tough,” while Enuff Znuff and Warrant seemed to
start
fresh by continually rotating their sets from city to city. Poison also
added a new touring bandmate on keyboards, Charlie Lawrence (Cinderella),
and promises a brand new studio album and another tour for the year ahead.
Their set featured the now expected guest vocals by the charismatic C.C.
DeVille on “I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine,” as well as explosive
drum and guitar solos, as well as the classics like “Your Mama Don’t
Dance,”
“Unkskinny Bop,” and of course “Every Rose Has its Thorn.”
While it can always be predicted that “Look What the Cat Dragged in,” will
kick things off, the set seemed to end too abruptly now that band has
recently dropped the KISS classic “Rock n Roll All Nite” (and the selection
of lucky audience members to jump on stage) from the set, concluding with a
single encore and “I Want Action.” |
