L.A. Guns
June 22, 2000
Revolution - Parma, Ohio

When TRPS.com last caught up with LA Guns, the original five had hit the road for the first time in many years. Now, several months later, Tracii Guns (Guitar) and Steve Riley (Drums) are still joined on the road by their new singer (as he jokes), the original frontman Phil Lewis.

And now, Lewis' Liberators bandmate rhythm guitarist Brent Muscat (Faster Pussycat) and a bassist known only as Muddy, have joined the band on the road in place of Kelly Nickels and Mick Cripps.

TPRS.com caught up with the boys in Pittsburgh, PA with Bar 7 the night before, and then as they played to a packed house at a new club called Revolution, located outside of Cleveland in Parma, Ohio.

Though the keys have once again been removed from the band's live set, the set list more than made up for their absence. They ripped through their own singles like "Sex Action," "Never Enough," and "No Mercy," added in a bit of Zeppelin's "How Many More Times," and gave Guns the spotlight for his version of Hendrix's "Red House."

Other highlights included one of their newest songs, "Time" from the Greatest Hits and Black Beauties (Cleopatra) album, and a great version of "Electric Gypsy," which got the whole band involved on vocals, including Muscat and Muddy, who are two lively additions to the band, that appeared to be having a blast.

While Guns teased on the guitar, when returning for their encore, Lewis asked "should I do it" and much to the crowd's surprise, he sang out a verse to the incredible ballad "Crystal Eyes," which appeared on both their Hollywood Vampires and Vicious Circle albums. They then moved right in to the familiar "Ballad of Jane," which included a taste of G-n-R guitar that Guns pulls out from time to time, and ended with "Rip n Tear."

Check www.lagunsweb.com

for the latest news, and according to Muscat, you can catch them on the road with Ratt and Warrant later this summer.
