Dokken
6/30/00
Blossom Music Ctr.
Cuyahoga Falls, OH

When Dokken was left in broken pieces after the disappointingly experimental Shadow Life album, and then the departure of George Lynch once again, it was difficult to predict what would happen.

But when guitarist Reb Beach (Winger, Alice Cooper) joined Jeff Pilson (bass), Mick Brown (drums), and Don Dokken (vocals), they clearly resurrected themselves with the guitar-driven Erase the Slate (CMC) which was perhaps their best album yet.

Their new found strength and agreement on their musically direction can clearly been seen in the energy and passion behind their performance, with highlight from the set including "In My Dreams" and "Maddest Hatter" from Erase the Slate.

Dokken often know for its incredible vocals, offered up a nice surprise for the tour.  They now after almost two decades have added a fourth to their circle of harmonies.  And with Beach joining the original three on vocals as well, the synthesis of Beach and Dokken seems even more prominent.

Other highlights from the set included the fist pounding "Into the Fire" and "The Hunter."  Though, disappointingly, "Dream Warriors" has once again been dropped from the set, because Dokken has had difficulty singing his high parts for the song.

For more information about Dokken be sure to read our interview with Jeff Pilson and visit their Web site at www.dokken.net Also, if you are interested in finding out what former Dokken guitarist George Lynch is up to, read our recent interview with him.
