DIO
December 5, 2000
Odeon - Cleveland, Ohio

|
After more than three decades
atop the heavy metal hierachy, Ronnie James Dio, has embarked on a North
American tour in support of his latest creation, Magica. Along with Doro
Pesch and Yngwie Malmsteen, Dio packed the house at the Odeon concert club
in the Cleveland flats for a sold-out performance. |
Covering everything from Black Sabbath's
"Heaven and Hell" to Rainbow's "Man on the Silver Mountain,"
Dio delivered a set packed with legendary rock anthems and new tracks like
"Fever Dreams" from Magica which are sure to stand the test of time.
Joined by a scorching union of past members, namely Craig Goldie (guitar), Simon
Wright (drums), Jimmy Bain (bass), and Scott Warren (keyboards), Dio performed
cuts like "Holy Diver," "Gypsy," and "Long Live Rock
and Roll" as the audience raised their fists in high accord.
Though he has chosen to continue to feast upon a crowd of heavy metal disciples,
Dio's ability to magically weave stories in poetic perfection leave one
wondering if his great talents are compromised by the inhibiting environment of
your average rock club, especially when his operatic vocals are joined in
harmony with symphonic keyboards, wailing guitars, and pulsating rhythms with a
strength that could bring an opera house to its knees.
