Cinderella
Post-Gazette Pavilion
Burgettstown, PA
6/29/2002

Tom Keifer

To put it simply, this solid blues rock quartet remains as strong as ever, if not better.

Jeff LeBarOpening with “Save Me” Cinderella shook things up instantly and stray concertgoers quickly found their way to their seats. While keeping basically the same set as in years past, they did make room for a few surprises, just to keep things interesting.  For one, bassist Eric Brittingham, drastically changed his look, shedding his blonde locks for a short black bob and generous facial hair.  As for the musical surprise of the year, Vocalist/Guitarist Tom Keifer brought out a saxophone during the band's anti-censorship anthem, “Shelter Me.”  And, since Poison had snatched up Charlie Lawrence the previous year, Cinderella brings to the table a new touring band member John Purdell, an appropriate selection considering that he performed on their last studio album, Still Climbing, and also holds numerous production credits for albums from Ozzy Osbourne, Poison, and other hard rockers.

Fred CouryEric BrittinghamHighlights of Cinderella's rocking set included “Bad Seamstress Blues,” "Shake Me,” and of course the big hitters like “Don’t know what you got” and “Gypsy Road.”

With so many memorable classics and the band obviously tight enough to hit the road with Poison twice now, one can only hope that a new studio release is in the wings, despite the demise of Portrait Records, and we hope to get the scoop on that and more when we catch up with the band in Toledo for a road report.  In the meantime, visit www.cinderella.net for the latest news.
