Rounding out the 3 releases we received from Poland’s CETI is “Shadow Of The Angel”. Once again, the band has a definite Blue Murder and Pretty Maids vibe running through sans the Malmsteen’s Rising Force influence on this release.
“Treason” calls to mind Blue Murder as does “The Choice”. “The Body and Blood” is haunting, lush ballad with its hushed tones and light keyboard and piano layers. “Song For The Desert” actually calls to mind Savatage.
Still, there is a symphonic metal approach to many of the tracks that hints at an influence of the Italian bands like Rhapsody (slightly), Skylark and Labyrinth. Overall, I think that CETI is going in the right direction with their compositions being that they are longer and rather elaborate without the pretentiousness of progressive overtones.
