Wasted Aces

Based out of Tucson AZ, the Wasted Aces debut full-length release utilizes both male and female leads vocals and a stripped down rock meets punk style. Lead track A.T.F. sounds like the son or daughter of Manitoba’s Wild Kingdom with the tongue in cheek humor provided by vocalist Darren Johnson.

“Supersonic” finds a vocalist change in Kristina Bohn and the track has more of an L7 sound. Straight To Hell has a certain Misfits vibe to it as Johnson possesses a vocal similarity to Glenn Danzig. Upon first listen, “Pootie” recalls L7’s “Diet Pill”. “My Name Is Ace” comes across closer to a Joan Jett track crossed with the Donnas. A party atmosphere ensues on “Up All Night”. “All Wound Up” is a frenzied rocked out track that recalls Pittsburgh legends Eviction.

Closing track “Touch Me Where I Pee” is another humorous song out of the L7, Cycle Sluts From Hell or Lunachicks camp.

Overall, this release works well as the soundtrack to hell raising Saturday night.
