Between these 2 CD’s are 29 tracks of past glories and new songs by these American heavy metal legends Virgin Steele. As I personally eagerly await the reissues of the first 2 Virgin Steele albums on CD, “The Booking Of Burning” contains 8 re-recordings of classic Virgin Steele songs such as “Guardians Of The Flame” and “Don’t Say Goodbye”. Talk about going back in time! Hearing “Children Of The Storm” on CD as well is absolutely stunning. For years the only band that Virgin Steele has ever been compared to is Manowar, but I find the bands to be as distinct as they are legendary. The re-recordings do justice to the original versions and the 8 previously unreleased tracks are powerful as well, especially “Hot and Wild” and “Rain Of Fire”. The “Hymns To Victory” CD covers tracks from “Noble Savage” through the present including re-mastered tracks and unreleased tracks. The 2 CD’s are highly recommended for anyone who wants to learn a 20 year history lesson from one of the most underrated metal bands of all time.
