MANDORA

Mandora is an Australian-based project fronted by lead vocalist Katrina Bray (who is from New Zealand). Citing influences that include Skunk Anansie, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence and Metallica, Mandora has its roots planted in melodic modern hard rock. Between Skin / Deborah Anne Dyer, Cristina Scabbia, and Amy Lee, Katrina sounds slightly like the charismatic Ms. Lee.

Out of the the three tracks on the Mandora demo, the heaviest track is the cover of the Pet Shop Boys song "It's A Sin". Mandora's interpretation of this track differs immensely from the dance music original. "Until You Come for Me" does have traces of Evanesence especially in the layering of Katrina's vocals. "What Have I Become" sounds more like a straight ahead hard rocker along the lines of the American band Atomic Angel. Mandora is a pleasant debut and is most appealing for fans of Evanescence, Lacuna Coil and Of Infinity.
