KILLING SPREE - Deception Betrayal Revenge

Hailing from one of the original hotbed's of thrash metal, San Francisco's Killing Spree unleashes Deception Betrayal Revenge, the band's debut full length CD release. Like their predecessors in the Bay Area scene, Killing Spree mixes straight ahead riffing with a high speed assault and classic thrash-styled vocals. Immediate comparisons can be drawn to Slayer, Dark Angel and Vio-lence but Killing Spree overall possesses much more in terms of melodic structures. Vocalist Eric Hansen who also plays bass has a voice rather similar to Kory Clarke of Warrior Soul. James Murray has a good guitar tone and handles the thrash genre with confidence. Drummer Mike Taylor bashes the skins and is given a solid sound in the mix. The gang vocals on the choruses are right out of 1987 and will please any fan of Testament. "Hollow Structure" is the gem of the disc calling to mind the glory days of New York thrashers Nuclear Assault. Along with recent releases by Exodus and Death Angel, Killing Spree delivers another excellent release in the renaissance of the thrash metal scene.
