Gauntlet

Hailing from Youngstown, OH, Gauntlet delivers straight edged heavy metal drawing musical comparisons to Motorhead, AC/DC and Danzig.  Gauntlet's 10 song debut CD, "B@stards Of Rock" is refreshing release for a younger metal band as they do not attempt to add loops, samples or hip hop beats.

The fast paced style of "Lumberjack Slam" comes off as the b@stard child of Motorhead and Pittsburgh thrash legends Eviction.  Guitarist Jesse Plaskett cuts loose razor sharp power chords on the track "Payback" with drummer B.J. Stephan providing a steady back beat.  "Slap In The Face" slashes through the speakers with a punk metal edge similar to the Straw Dogs, especially in B.J. Lisko's snarling vocal delivery.

All in all, Gauntlet's debut release is an aggressive work of heavy metal which should do quite well in the metal underground with their no nonsense straight ahead approach.  The band has been playing shows throughout the Ohio and Pennsylvania areas and recently added a second guitarist in Cory Hoover.  The addition of Hoover should only serve to strengthen the sound of an already solid band.
