Final Tragedy
We have had the Final Tragedy for a few months at TPRS.com and I have been wondering what to write about their 3rd release entitled “Greed”. Female fronted atmospheric metal would not do just description to this French band. The usual comparisons to the Gathering, Tristania, Theatre Of Tragedy and Nightwish really do not apply here. With each track clocking in at 5:00 minutes or more, Delphine Cochand (vocals) and Jean-Luc Millot (guitars, bass) have weaved a complex metal composition that requires multiple listens for true appreciation.
”Speak The Words” is a downright spooky track with its haunting music and slightly hollow vocal track. At first, I thought that Delphine’s vocals were just buried in the mix, but with subsequent listens it certainly seemed to have been done on purpose to add an even more eerie ambience to the CD. Delphine’s lyrics of desperation, hopelessness and lovelorn thoughts abound throughout the disc while Jean-Luc is able to intertwine his musical prowess to create a thoroughly rewarding listening experience.
