An Interview with Bill
Leverty of Firehouse by Kara
Uhrlen
Life on the Road
"One of the things that's
real frustrating, when you're out on the road, a lot of these radio
stations will be the sponsor of one of your shows. You sell out a huge
place, and they're there and they advertise you, and they get on stage and
they announce you, and they hang out with you, and as soon as you're gone
they don't play any of your stuff. And the only think they play as you
come into town, is your old songs."
Though they don't have any
definite tour plans for this summer, Leverty believes that a better plan for a
band like Firehouse is to go out and play festivals because at the end of a day
after playing clubs the band makes nothing. He says "At the end of it all,
we all have families, this is our livelihood and to just go out on the road for
eight weeks and come home with nothing doesn't make sense for anybody anymore.
We're not sixteen and wanting to go out and do it like that anymore."
And while he expressed interest
in touring with Poison and Tesla again, he says that they are "really
willing to tour with whoever is out there that can drawl a lot of people that
they can help draw a lot of people with, and show people that people still want
to hear this kind of music."
In Conclusion
Before concluding the interview,
Leverty wanted to extend a special thanks to the band's fans:
"We want to thank everybody
out there who stuck with us for this many years, especially when bands like
Firehouse aren't at the top of the charts or the flavor of the month. And we
really appreciate everybody going out and getting a copy of our new album O2, we
think you won't be disappointed in it, and we look forward to seeing everybody
on tour this spring/summer."
