Faster Pussycat Interview with Brent Muscat

While Faster Pussycat guitarist Brent Muscat says that he wasn’t involved with the band’s latest offering, a remix album vocalist Taime Downe had produced for Cleopatra Records, he says that the album was responsible for sparking interest in a reformation of the band. And since Downe had already done the Newlydeads for quite a while without an major label interest or exposure, he says, the timing seemed right. Roxx Gang: Kevin Steele of Interview

Based in Tampa, Florida, Kevin Steele says that when the band took the typical route when trying to get a record deal back in the late eighties, and after releasing demo tapes, shopping them, and playing showcases in Florida as well as New York, Virgin Records came to Tampa and signed Roxx Gang as the first hard rock act for the pop label. "We just did the usual routine, did what everybody told us to do (laughs)," he explained. Read the complete Roxx Gang: Kevin Steele of Interview review...

CHIP DIMONICK - Bat An Eyelash

Sleazy glam rock, with raunchy, tongue in groove lyrics, and a good time attitude is what “Bat An Eyelash” by Chip Dimonick is all about. The songs scream 1986 in a good way as they are quite memorable with a listen or two. “If You See Kay” is not an April Wine cover, rather a love song of sorts. The very catchy “My Last Buck” tells the tale of going broke from spending in all in a strip bar. “I Own You” has more of a dark glam approach to it sounding along the lines of D’Molls. L.A. Guns - Cocked And Re-loaded

L.A. Guns has released yet another album that pays tribute to their past successes. The disc is entitled Cocked and Re-Loaded, Millennium Edition, and offers the same tracks as the original, with exception to the addition of the Spahn Ranch Remix of "Rip and Tear." While tracks like "Never Enough" and "The Ballad of Jayne" will always stand the test of time, with a new live album and a greatest hits record with re-recorded versions of their hits both being released within the past year, this release seems a bit redundant. L.A. Guns - Live On The Strip

When we first spoke to L.A. Guns last fall while on the road in support of Greatest Hits and Black Beauties album, they had just recorded this live album for Cleopatra's Deadline Label at the Key Club in California last fall.

At first listen, many months later, I have found it very had to separate the songs that I love from the songs that stand out on the album. Taking a step back and truly listening to the music, it seems that the strengths lie in the full guitar sound and the raw energy of the band -- certainly not in the album's production. Roxx Gang - Drinkin' T.N.T. and Smokin' Dynamite

The band exploded on the music scene with the demo Love 'Em and Leave 'Em earning rave reviews both domestically and abroad, signed to Virgin Records, toured the world, and released videos that earned them airplay on MTV. And though the band was associated with the hard rock scene of the late eighties they never really fit any pre-defined mold. Roxx Gang's latest release Drinkin' T.N.T. and Smokin' Dynamite was produced by vocalist Kevin Steele and drummer Tommy Weder and released earlier this year.
