Aerosmith - Burgettstown, PA 6/30/2001

While many bands have scored their hits and faded away, Aerosmith offers a colorful past and from the looks of their recent accomplishments, a vibrant future.

Most hard rock bands can "Dream On" when it comes to crossover success today, these rock 'n roll vets have accomplished the task and broken boundaries that are likely to make most record execs cringe. They've scored a #1 Billboard single, lead the revolution on the fusion of rock and rap genres, and most importantly they come back stronger with each new release... Billy Sheehan - Compression

Considering the career that Billy Sheehan has behind him, it is very surprising that this is his first solo attempt. Perhaps that is because his reputation has lead him to perform in many bands and to make many guest performances like his jaunt with Steve Vai on this summer’s G3 tour. Sammy Hagar - Ten 13

A couple of albums and 250 performances later, Vic Johnson (guitar), Mona (bass), Jesse Harms (keyboard) and David Lauser (drums), who are better known as the Waboritas, join Sammy Hagar for their third collaboration, which delivers crunching guitars, high energy, and most definitely, one hell of a party. SAMMY HAGAR - Not 4 Sale

Some may wonder how Sammy Hagar had time to write and record an entire album in time for a celebratory October release. After all, he did just finish a co-headlining tour escapade with Diamond Dave. This release would have seemed a difficult feat had he included all new material, but with worthy inclusions like a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" as well as the previously written tracks "Stand Up" and "The Big Nail" rounding off the release, it seems more reasonable. BLACKMORE'S CASTLE - Compilation

Ritchie Blackmore's influence on the genre of hard rock/progressive/metal music in abundantly apparent in this 13 track CD. As with most compilations, there are some really good covers and some others that are better left unmentioned and only one song that is a complete disgrace to the disc. BALTIMOORE - Ultimate Tribute

Bjorn Lodin and his Baltimoore project take on the often unenviable task of attempting to do a full disc of covers. As with any other cover project, there are some winners and of course some tracks that are better left alone. Personally, I have only heard one band pull off an entire excellent disc of covers (Powergod - Tribute To The Gods). Most of the tracks are from the 1970's with a one from the 1980's thrown in for good measure. Read the complete BALTIMOORE - Ultimate Tribute review...

BILLY SHEEHAN - Cosmic Troubadour

Known for his innovative and playful approach to the bass guitar, Billy Sheehan releases his second solo album Cosmic Troubadour and once again proves that he is a master of many talents. If you’ve ever seen Sheehan take the mic and belt out “Shy Boy” while on the road, it is very clear that he loves to sing. Thus it is no surprise that this release, much like his Favored Nations debut Compression, features a solid mix of instrumental and vocal-led tracks. Goddess Is Human - Being Human

I became aware of Goddess Is Human after hearing lead vocalist JoJo Saint on the Ascension Theory release. When I contacted the band, little did I know what a diamond in the rough release I would stumble across. Lead track “No Other Way” is a stunning display of Saint’s vocal prowess co-existing with the maniacal guitar playing of CK Young. Young’s guitar riffs and technique through this entire release are most unique. His playing style, sense of melody and guitar tones is of the guitar virtuoso variety. Whitesnake: David Coverdale Interview

After devoting many years of his professional career to performances with the blues-driven Whitesnake, and working with the likes of Jimmy Page and Deep Purple, vocalist David Coverdale has finally embarked on a solo career. While he has wanted to release a solo album since Whitesnake had official finished in 1990, Coverdale says that his contracts with EMI would not permit such an effort, until now.

"I've been given a gift of a whisper to a scream in terms of my voice, and I'd like to explore it now" Read the complete Whitesnake: David Coverdale Interview review...

Great White: Tony Montana Interview

Tony Montana had played bass for Great White through the height of their success, but was fired for as he puts it, "being a bit apathetic about the direction the music was taking." During our interview with Jack Russell, we talked briefly about a recent appearance by Montana at a Great White performance in Seattle, Washington. Russell had said “It was cool. It was really good seeing him again” and that he plans to get in touch with him once he’s home. Read the complete Great White: Tony Montana Interview review...
