Apart from
the occasional regrouping of Saigon Kick, it seems Matt Kramer has been keeping
busy working on his own music.
His self-produced solo debut War & Peas first
offers “Soul Star.” Its one of the most
refreshing lead tracks this reviewer has heard in a long while, and Kramer
appropriately calls it a "serious, raunchy,
sex-rock stomper."
The album continues on with a showcase that proves Kramer hasn't lost his sense
of humor or his talent for writing diverse and truly alternative music with
clearly apparent seventies rock and glam roots.
While Kramer
claims all responsibility for lyrical content (as if there was a question), but
those who recall our interview with
George Lynch a couple of years back will be happy to hear that a few songs
from their union have made it onto this release, namely "Caught up on the
Inside," "I'm Getting Closer," and "If God Could Here me Now." War & Peas
was mixed at Skyline Studios in New York City, which is owned by drummer
Jonathan Mover of Satriani, Oleander, and Fuel fame, who also appears on this
release.
War and Peas,
was released on Matt Kramer’s own label Lascivious Records, and is currently
being distributed exclusively through his Web site
www.mattkramer.net.
