Talk about a journey to the center of your mind...slip on "The
Unreal Never Lived", the latest release by YOB and you will
immediately understand what I am talking about. From the
atmospheric doom of "Quantum Mystic", one immediately feels
immersed in some sonic vibe that is rarely visited these days.
The aura I feel coming from speakers crosses Bathory with
Monster Magnet. T
he shortest song, "Grasping Air", clocks
in at 9 minutes in length. "Kosmos" has the expected Black
Sabbath doom feel to it. Closing track, the 21 minute "The
Mental Tyrant" is guaranteed to destroy brain cells without the
help of any substances. Bad intent lurks in every sludgy
riff forthcoming on this track. Overall, a trip one needs
to be warned about before pursuing.
